Bill Plympton is doing another Global Jam! this time for his 1987 Oscar-Nominated short "Your Face", without a doubt his greatest piece of work. as i'm a bit of a fan, i'll be taking part...again!
for those of you who don't know, "Your Face" is a short caricatured animation in which a hand-drawn man, in a formal suit, sings to a screwball type of song all the while twisting and transforming into different shapes and sizes. and that's it! however, drawn so well with only coloured pencils, the fantastically animated, dimensionally changing, constant perspective warping character lead Plympton to gain global recognition with his first Oscar-nomination.
the way the jam works is pretty simple. us "Jammers" from all over the world have been given a three second segment of original audio from the short, to which we will animate to. the only restrictions we have, to maintain continuity, is that our characters should try and line up with the characters prior to and after our shots. anything else in between we can do what we like.
here's a link to the Facebook page.
i'm going to go mad with watercolours on this. here's a few designs for my character.
my shot for Plympton's previous jam, "Guard Dog Global Jam".
